DSF provides a diverse range of information on topics concerning pet care, health, training and well-being. DSF celebrates our pet companions and urges the public to act, advocate and work together to effect positive change and help end the tragedy that is pet homelessness.
DSF 2010 achieved repeated success. Impressive attendance allowed for more than 130 dogs to find families on Festival Day. DSF continues to provide the public with a comprehensive representation of deserving dogs available for adoption from the many the breed-specific rescue groups and shelters throughout San Diego County who attend.
DSF is committed to decreasing pet overpopulation and continues to devote its efforts to providing free of charge, an extensively publicized platform for rescue groups and shelters to distribute literature, advocate and encourage responsible dog adoption and attract new foster parents, volunteers and supporters.
DSF also provides a range of pet professionals, health practitioners and veterinarians who offer practical advice, helpful information and valuable knowledge, at no cost to the public, on Festival day at our “Ask A Pet Professional Booth.”
DSF educates kids and youth; the next generations, to the importance of choosing pet adoption through pet-related art and literary projects and other engaging activities at its Kids Art Area.
DSF celebrates our pet companions by organizing this high-visibility educational and informative Festival experience in an effort to increase awareness about responsible pet adoption, health, training, and well being and to encourage our community to get involved and become heroes to our furry best friends.

Until then, our goal is to join our voice to the collective cry on behalf of our dog population who cannot speak for themselves.
DSF will continue to work together with the dog rescue community and advocate for education and public information. We hope for positive change, a decrease in irresponsible overpopulation and an increase in pet adoptions, care and conscientious guardianship.

WHO BENEFITS FROM MY DONATION?
Your donation allows us to bring together and host, free of charge, San Diego County’s Dog Rescue community with their adoptable dogs.
Your donation also allows us to advocate for responsible pet adoption by creating this public event and focusing media attention on dog adoption options.
The result is a powerful display that informs and educates the public about dogs, of varying ages, breeds, and sizes available for adoption in an effort to save those dogs from euthanasia or other undesirable outcomes.
Your donation allows us to encourage the public to get involved helping rescue groups and shelters in their day-to-day efforts as volunteers, foster families, or donors.
Your donation allows us to provide a day filled with education and information from the speaker presentations on stage to our Kids Art Areas and “Ask A Pet Professional” booth where the public is able to get their questions answered free of charge, by a diverse group of professionals on a range of topics regarding pet care, health, training and well being.
Your donation allows us to increase public awareness about pet overpopulation and random breeding and encourage spay/neuter, key to decreasing rescue and shelter overpopulation and euthanasia.
Your donation allows us to keep the Festival free to the public and potential adoption families and individuals who attend.
Your donation allows us to urge the public to act, advocate and work together to help end the tragedy of pet homelessness, neglect and abandonment.
Please note that the Festival fundraises in order to pay for the normal expenses incurred in creating this high visibility educational event. We do not fundraise to provide funds to rescue groups.
We are fortunate to have unpaid volunteers who generously donate enormous amounts of their time, talent and skills in order to be of service to their community through their work at this Festival.
