2010 FESTIVAL SUMMARY

On Sunday February 28, 2010 several thousand San Diegans attended the 2nd Annual Doggie Street Festival at Liberty Station, along side a record breaking 35+ breed specific rescue groups and shelters with their adoptable dogs making this county-wide doggie adoption event and pet celebration an outstanding success.

The Festival was conceived of and designed to bring public awareness and attention to San Diego County’s breed-specific rescue groups, shelters and their adoptable dogs. The Festival is dedicated to helping increase pet adoption and to educating the public about pet adoption opportunities and responsible adoption through this annual Festival and special events throughout the year.

The Festival wishes to thank all of the rescue groups, shelters, volunteers, sponsors, vendors, auction item providers, entertainers, and general public. Of course a special thank you to our community conscious “media” for helping to get the word out and all the “new parents” for making a commitment to adopt a pet on Festival day.

At a time when our local economy is experiencing record unemployment and unprecedented home foreclosures, our state budget deficit exceeds our state budget expectations, jeopardizing our children’s education and the global economy is in peril it was not easy fundraising for the Festival.

This made those who did give of their time, energy and resources all the more extraordinary. A deserving shout out to our organizer/founder Jude Artenstein who devoted herself tirelessly to the Festival for more than five months and continues to advocate on its behalf.

All proceeds from the Festival goes directly to pay for the expenses of producing and promoting this event which is free to the public, and provided all San Diego based non-profit rescue groups and shelters with booth space completely free of charge as well as PR benefits and access to attendees provided by the Festival.

THANK YOU SAN DIEGO hope to see you next year at the 3rd Annual Doggie Street Festival.
